GULF COTTON
A general trade term for a variety of cotton grown in the Gulf States, and the Mississippi River basin. The staple is about 11/16 -in. and of a fairly white colour. The word " Gulf" is not much used in the actual buying and selling, other trade names that have a more definite meaning being employed. The most common of these trade names are Peelers, Benders, Rivers, Canebrake and Red River.
